Lebaran, "Flexing Muscles" Curiosity

CALIFORNIA, KOMPAS.com -Robot Curiosity sent United States Space Agency NASA flight and to investigate Mars "stretched their muscles" on the second day of Idul Fitri, Monday (8/8/2012).

"Muscle Stretch" this is the first release since the Curiosity is experienced in November 2011. Engineers at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory is responsible in this process.

Of course, stretching the muscles here meaningless literally cause Curiosity had no muscle. Because your arms stretch called Curiosity, then bent opened expanded again, similar human muscle stretching before exercise.

Step stretch was done by NASA to conduct a test and calibrate the arms along the 2.13 meters following pengebor equipment, shovels, spectrometer and camera.

As the AP reported, on Tuesday (9/8/2012), stretch it is "health tests" that traveled since landing on Mars Curiosity on August 5, 2012.

The equipment is checked this time is useful for retrieving a collection of Mars soil. The taking is done to find out if the potential habitat for meruupakan Mars microbes.

Curiosity itself undertake missions that quite a lot. One of them is also investigating the possibility of astronauts to land on Mars.

Curiosity Rocks on Mars with Firing Laser

NASA Image from NASA showing the Crater on Mars that was Gale landing rover Curiosity. The image was taken by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.

PASADENA, KOMPAS.com — NASA Lander Spacecraft, rover Curiosity, for the first time directing the shooters lasernya into a rock on Mars. The six-wheeled robots that shoot for the purposes of research and science.

When performing a test target on Monday when Indonesia, fired 30 waves on the Curiosity of a nearby stone in the span of 10 seconds, and make a small hole.

A single shot of Chemical instruments and laser Camera Curiosity, or ChemCam, lasted five per one billion seconds, but consisting of more than one million Watts, enough to change the solid rock into liquid plasma ionized.

The three spectrometer in the later study of sparks shot a laser at 6,151 different wavelength of ultraviolet rays, infrared rays, visible, and to determine the composition of the stone has evaporated because of the gunfire.

According to NASA, the preliminary results of this experiment showed the instruments work well. Data from tests show, it even shows performance ChemCam is better than when conducted trials on Earth.

Since landing in Gale Crater last week two, Curiosity has tried a variety of the instrument, including laser. During the two-year mission, will fire the laser to the Curiosity of various rocks along its journey to Mount Sharp mount as high as 4.8 kilometers from the crater floor.

The purpose of his mission was to find out whether the Martian environment was ever allowed to live in.

In a few days ahead, controllers on Earth will be ordered to move the wheel and Curiosity to try short trips first.

The mission will cost an estimated 2.5 billion US dollars is the most expensive project Mars so far.
